Every student starts in a different place, so we start by finding out where you are.
A relaxed 30 minutes, in person or online. We talk about your goals, your test dates and what has felt tricky so far.
A practice test shows exactly which question types are costing you points, so we know where to focus.
One or two sessions a week, short lessons where you need them, and timed practice as test day gets closer.
I help high school students in and around Glenview get ready for the SAT and ACT, mostly in math and English. I scored a 35 on the ACT, with 36s in Math, English and Science, and I've taught SAT math at an established test-prep company in Singapore, where I earned great reviews from every student I worked with.
My sessions are built around you, not a fixed curriculum. We work from your own practice tests, zero in on the question types that trip you up, and use short, targeted lessons to fill in anything that needs a refresher.
I teach in person because I've seen how much better it works. It's more engaging, more fun, and much easier to tell when something has really clicked.
A couple of notes from students I helped prepare for the SAT.
I managed to score what I wanted for my SAT! I got 1420, with 660 for English and 760 for Math! Thank you for helping me throughout my preparation, you really helped me a lot in Math!
I would be lying if I said I missed the days of SAT prep and studying, but I wouldn't be lying if I said you made the process a million times easier! Honestly, you are so good at teaching math, which is literally my least favorite subject… Thank you for making me actually kinda enjoy learning how to solve problems and do algebra and stuff.
One-on-one help with the SAT and ACT, focused on the sections where you have the most room to grow.
SAT and ACT math, from algebra and functions to geometry, trigonometry and data, plus how to use the built-in Desmos calculator to save real time.
ACT English and SAT Reading and Writing: the grammar and punctuation rules that come up again and again, transitions, concise writing, and strategies for reading questions under time pressure.
ACT Science on request: reading graphs, tables and experiments quickly and calmly. Just mention it when you book and we'll build it into your sessions.
Simple hourly rates, with lower prices when you commit to regular sessions.
For most students, one or two sessions a week of one to two hours each is the sweet spot. That's enough to build real momentum without crowding out homework and activities. If a test date is close, we can talk about adding a little more for a week or two.

Illinois public high school juniors take the ACT at school in the spring, so most students around here focus on it. Some also try the SAT. If you're not sure, take a free practice test of each and we'll compare your results at the intro.
